RP Mystic’s Guide to Sagittarius Season

Lifestyle photo of the "Signs & Skymates" suite. All three products are laid above cards from the "Signs & Skymates Astrological Compatibility Deck"Sagittarius Season occurs between November 22 and December 21 each year, and it is the ninth zodiac sign of the year. This is the time to let your inner thrill-seeker flourish as new adventures await. In her book, Signs & Skymates: The Ultimate Guide to Astrological Compatibility, author Dossé-Via Trenou writes of Sagittarius, “Because Sag is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion, they are drawn to what expands their consciousness and stimulates their soul… They influence others to be drawn to similar adventures. Sagittarius has bewildering, enticing, and contagious energy. They let their curiosity lead the way and tap into their curiosity of others through their inquisitiveness and insatiable desire to both learn and teach.”

Here, we’ve gathered enchanting correspondences, dreamy spells, and empowering rituals for an abundant Sagittarius Season.

Get to Know the Sagittarius’ Horse

In honor of learning more about the universe and the world around us, let’s become untamed and familiarize ourselves with the wild yet playful Horse, the animal symbolic of Sagittarius season. Here, Mystic Mondays creator Grace Duong shares the powerful and surprising traits that make up the Horse from her Cosmic Creatures Deck: A Deck and Guidebook to Connect to the Wilderness Within.

The Horse card from the "Mystic Mondays: Cosmic Creatures Deck"

Horse: Passion, Drive, Wildness

Wild and free, the Horse can represent our willpower and drive to go all the way! Passion propels you forward and keeps you focused, as long as you’re connected to your purpose. The Horse trots along, masterfully navigating the road ahead as an extension of human consciousness. Take a look within and ask yourself, “What is my driving force? What motivates me to keep going when times get tough?” There’s a passion that wants to be expressed, an energy within you that can only be tamed for so long. Channel this energy in healthy ways, focusing on productive outlets that can transport you farther along your career path. The Horse works tirelessly and is able to make massive progress, but only when it is also connected to its heart. Don’t forget your heart’s mission as you gallop toward your victory and share your desires with the will of your mind, body, and soul.

Charm For Restful Sleep

With Sagittarius season comes the shortening of days. The sun greets us earlier and the moon rises sooner, a change that can inevitably affect our sleeping patterns. As Nikki Van De Car writes in Wellness Witch Healing Potions, Soothing Spells, and Empowering Rituals for Magical Self-Care; “We all need sleep to survive, and yet it is elusive. Insomnia is a fact of life for as many as one in three people today, while we are kept awake by our fear, our anxieties, our long list of things left undone.” You might notice that with daylight savings time, your sleep schedule is off-kilter. Consider this charm when looking for remedies to a restful sleep, courtesy of Wellness Witch:

Lifestyle photo of "Wellness Witch" surrounded by flowers, crystals, and glowing lights

1 tablespoon dried lavender

1 tablespoon dried vervain

1 tablespoon dried yarrow

1 tablespoon dried lemon balm or catnip

Amethyst, for a gentle and restful sleep

You can adjust your charm according to your needs: add some holly if you’d like to invite prophetic dreams, cowslip if you would like to be visited by loved ones who have passed, or betony if you require protection from nightmares.

Stir your herbs together and let them charge in the full moon, surrounded by your chosen crystal or crystals. Burn some sage if desired, just to be sure you have warded off anything that might want to keep you awake. Gather everything into a small cloth bag and place it lovingly at your side as you prepare for sleep. Change it out every full moon as needed.

Tap into Essential Oils

Cover of "Essential Oils"Bring an enchanting natural element into your Sagittarius season with some of our most cherished essential oils that promote the fun-loving yet fiery Sag who loves a sense of adventure. Here, we offer our recommended essential oils to enhance this zodiac season, courtesy of Essential Oils: A Little Introduction to Their Uses and Health Benefits written by Cerridwen Greenleaf.

[Note: No matter how delightfully scented, please remember that you should never ingest any of these oils. Be careful when working with essential oils; use them in conjunction with carrier or base oils so that they do not irritate your skin. Even diluted, we suggest that you wear clean cotton gloves when preparing oils and do not get the oils in your eyes.]

Black Pepper: Derived from the common peppercorn, this oil promotes emotional wellness and relaxes the nervous system. Black pepper oil can be administered topically for stimulating the senses and engendering courage. It is also a protectant and can help keep bad energy and bad people out of your home.

Clary Sage: When applied topically, clary sage oil stimulates the skin and circulation while it soothes the mind. It has a distinctly earthy aroma, is a natural antidepressant, and, as the name hints, brings clarity and wisdom. Clary sage also alleviates insomnia, apprehension, and bad dreams.

Geranium: Extracted from the South African Pelargonium graveolens, this sweetly floral oil is a true anti-inflammatory that is said to enhance circulation and reduce high blood pressure. Geranium offers emotional stability; releases negativity, stress, and depression; and lifts your mood, as well as boosting your immunity.

Illustration of juniper berries from "Essential Oils"Juniper Berry: Exudes a feminine energy and is sacred to earth deities. This essential oil emits a sweet and woodsy aroma that makes it a great addition to an aromatherapy regimen; it also works as an anointing application and has strong space-clearing properties for use before spellwork.

Tea Tree: Used by indigenous Australians for centuries for space clearing and energy management, tea tree oil is a powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic with a fresh camphor smell. It can rid your home of negative energy and ward off malevolent spirits. Use tea tree essential oil to clear out and reset vibrations after an illness.

A Tarot Card for Sagittarius

All zodiac signs are ruled by a tarot card from the Major Arcana. The tarot card associated with Sagittarius season is the Temperance card. Let’s take a close look at this card from the Black Tarot: An Ancestral Awakening Deck and Guidebook deck from Nyasha Williams.

The Temperance card from "Black Tarot"

Traits: Contentment, balance, yes

A woman in a kitchen tempers chocolate, heating and cooling the chocolate to stabilize it, creating a glossy finish. She works to create balance, finding the perfect equilibrium. Tempering takes patience, understanding the gravity of a stable personal foundation, and collaboration with the community.

The Temperance card calls for moderation. Do not act in haste, as the material and spiritual aspects of a situation must be considered in equal measure.

When the Temperance card is pulled, it is time to consider the following:

  • What do you bring to the table?
  • Do you actively engage with the viewpoints of your echo chambers?
  • Have you considered compromising?

Strongly tied to the solar plexus, Golden Enhydro Herkimer can clear out emotional baggage from many lifetimes. Live out loud and proud!

Incredibly grounded in and connected to the Earth, Septarian can pinpoint illnesses in the body and focuses on listening to the body’s needs by building a strong relationship with it. The name Septarian comes from the Latin word septum, or seven, signifying the pattern of seven on the exterior of the crystal.

The Lepidocrocite card from the "Crystal Grid Deck"Lepidocrocite: Open Heart, Grounded, Teacher
